Cheltenham Gold Cup
The Cheltenham Gold Cup is a Grade 1 chase for horse aged five and older.
This is the main event at the festival and the most prestigious of all National Hunt races.
It is run on the New Course at Cheltenham over a distance of 3 miles and 2½ furlongs and 22 fences are to be jumped.
Its winner’s features the names of such top class and well known chasers – Arkle, Kauto Star and Golden Miller.

When looking for the Gold Cup winner we have to look at a horse who has ideally won a Grade 1 race.
Your selection should be aged between the age of seven and 9 years old to have the best chance in this race.
A really strong chaser is required to land this event so look to horses who have won at least 50% of their races this season.
On ratings look for horses that are rated 166+ to narrow down your selection.

The leading jockey is Pat Taaffe who was the jockey of Arkle.
In 2009, Kauto Star became the first horse to regain the Gold Cup. He overcame his stable mate Denman who had won this race in 2008.
