Ryanair Chase
The Ryanair Chase is a Grade 1 chase open to horses aged five years or older. It is run on the New Course at Cheltenham over a distance of about 2 miles and 5 furlongs.
Horses and jockeys are required to jump 17 fences.
It was one of several new races introduced at the Festival when a fourth day was added to the meeting in 2005.
It is also known as the Festival Trophy Steeplechase.
High class horses always contest this event, ensuring there is plenty of betting activity. It is a good race for horses that are favored and previous Cheltenham experience is important when selecting your bet.

Winners have been aged between 6 and 10 years of age.
Winners of the Ryanair Chase have been priced from 10/3 to 14/1 with only one favorite winning in the history of the race.
It is worth pointing out that every winner of this race won at Cheltenham before.
Ruby Walsh has ridden two Ryanair Chase winners, Thisthatandtother (2005), Taranis (2007.
Paul Nicholls has trained two wins in the Ryanair Chase in the past five years with the same horses mentioned above.
The Paddy Power Gold cup is a very good race to study in regards to form for this race.
It is worth following Paul Nicholls trained horses as he has won 2 of the last 5 races and was 2nd last year.
Also look out for French Bred horses as they have a great record at the festival in chases up to 2mile 5 furlongs.
